Sony Worldwide Studios 사장 요시다의 인터뷰 기사 중에서 PS4에대해 알게된 새로운 내용들을 요약하여 올립니다.

 

Asked whether the system requires an always-online internet connection, Yoshida said, “You can play offline, but you may want to keep it connected. The system has the low-power mode – I don’t know the official term – that the main system is shut down but the subsystem is awake. Downloading or updating or you can wake it up using either the tablet, smartphone or PS Vita.”

(오프라인 플레이가 가능하지만 온라인을 원하게 될꺼고 시스템은 절약모드(low-power-mode)로 다운로드나 업데이트가 될 수 있고 태블릿이나 전화기 또는 비타로 그걸 깨워서 쓸 수 있다네요)

If it wasn’t clear, he reiterated. “You can go offline totally. Social is big for us, but we understand there are some people who are anti-social! So if you don’t want to connect to anyone else, you can do that.”
(사회적인 성향을 원치 않으면 그냥 오프라인으로 해도 별 상관 없다는 얘기네요)

 

"The console is just a box," he told Polygon. "The controller was very important to show because it has the share button, but the console is just a box."

(콘솔은 박스일 뿐, 중요한건 콘트롤러에 share 버튼이 있다는거라네요. --;)

 

"That’s the vision. That’s what [Gaikai CEO] David Perry said. In the future the ultimate goal is everything everywhere. … So when we say everywhere, like every device, including the smartphones, TVs … refrigerators [Laughs] … that’s our goal. But we have to phase services step-by-step."

(그것이 바로 비전이고. 그게 바로 Gaikai 회장 David Perry가 말한거라네요. 미래의 궁극적인 목표는 어디서나 무엇이든,

스마트폰이든, TV든 냉장고든... 하지만 차근차근 해야겠죠.^^)

 

"I totally expect many games to show up on PS4 that are free-to-play or will have microtransactions or subscriptions, many different kind of things that are happening on different devices. These things will just work. I’m a big fan of some of these games as well."

(자신은 PS4에서 많은 게임들을 보기 원한다네요. 그래서 공짜나 또는 소액결재 혹은 구독하는 방식으로 많은 종류의, 다른 기기에서 되는, 게임들을 할 수 있을꺼라네요. -무슨 모바일용 게임 비슷한 것으로 보이네요^^)

 

Yoshida confirmed that the PS4 does not have hardware-based backward compatibility for both downloadable and disc-based P3 games. (PS4가 하드웨어에 기반한 하위호환은 안된다고 밝혔군요) 

But he added, “Unless, somehow, some games work on emulation. The easiest thing technically would be to make PS1 games work on PS4 with emulation, but we are not talking about our emulation plans as yet.”

(하지만 몇몇 게임은 에뮬레이션으로 가능하다네요. 아직은 그 계획을 이야기하고 있지 않다네요)

When it comes to transferring other PSN purchases to the PS4, Yoshida said, “We could do it if we choose to; we know who’s bought what. But we haven’t decided yet.” (PSN을 이용해서 PS4용으로 -현재 플삼이용 PS2 클래식 게임처럼-할 수 도 있는데 아직 결정된 것이 없다는 거로군요)

Yoshida also mentioned cloud support as one way for enabling older titles on the PS4, but he wasn’t ready to announce anything yet. (요시다는 거기 더해서 클라우드 역시 옛날 게임들을 PS4에서 할 수 있게 할꺼지만 아직 정확히 발표할 시기는 아니라고 했군요)

 

"Yes, so, we've been making some of our PS2 games available upgraded and published on PS3, and in some cases like God of War or Shadow of the Colossus, some people say this is the better version of the original game, so something like that, we find it very satisfying from a development standpoint, and those who create original titles are thrilled to see more people playing their games, because of the update. So I think for some games it will make sense for us to look at, but we are not talking about any more about our titles other than the four titles."

(갓옵빠나 완다와 거상인가요? 어쨌든 그런게 그랬듯이 유명한 대작은 PS4에서 만날 수도 있다는 이야기네요)

 

"Personally, I’d like to see that … for some retailers create some nice bundles. But I think it’s way too early to talk about the final package, what’s in the box now, and much it costs."

(이런걸 좋아한다네요. -Wii U 비슷한건가요?- 이렇게 팔 수도 있지만 아주 비싸겠죠)

 

"It’s not a focus, but it [PS4] does do it, and it does it better. So more games will run at 1080p and 60fps, so it’s an easier, better experience when you watch them on a 3D TV. … 3D was a big thing a couple years ago. We made it a big thing, because it was led by the consumer electronics side of Sony. … But now the consumer electronics side of Sony, all the company’s have shifted from 3DTV to something else. So, they’re not talking about it."

(중요한게 아니지만 PS4는 3D가 되고 더 좋을꺼라네요. 많은 게임들이 1080p에서 60fps로 될꺼고 그걸 3D TV에서 볼 때 더 쉽고 더 좋은경험이 될꺼라네요. 그러나 전과 달리 지금은 자기들 뿐만 아니라 다른 회사들도 3DTV에서 뭔가 다른걸 더 중시하게 되어서 요즘은 3D가 그닥 중요하게 논의되지 않는다네요)

- Also, Sony Computer Entertainment of America CEO Jack Tretton added that the PS4 is 'still in development in terms of final specs and design', and that they "hope" the console won't cost $599 at launch...

(소니 컴퓨터 엔터테인먼트 미국 지사장 Jack Tretton이 자기는 599불 이상의 가격이 되지 않기를 희망한다고 덧붙였네요

그리고 아직 마지막 스펙과 디자인은 개발 중이라는군요)

덧붙입니다. 요시다가 유로게이머와의 인터뷰에서 아주 중요한 이야기를 했군요.

Shuhei Yoshida confirmed to Eurogamer that “Used games can play on PS4.”

He also added: “That’s the general expectation by consumers. They purchase physical form, they want to use it everywhere, right? So that’s my expectation.”
(중고 게임을 PS4에서 플레이 할 수 있다는 것이네요. 그게 소비자들의 소망이고 자기의 기대 역시 마찬가지라는군요.^^)
