No Ground Bounce and such proof of lacking electronics skills ;)
G.2 support ALL machines including very first scph-10000, scph-15000, scph-18000, as well as earlier American machines like v1 and v2.

There is simply NO patches applied to CD/DVD Control Bus and Bios.
이 칩에는 CD나 DVD를 제어하는 콘트롤버스와 바이오스를 건드리는 패치가 없다.
That’s why it works even with complete dead EEprom (blank, missing or corrupted).
그렇기 때문에 Dead EEprom상태에서도 완벽하게 작동이 된다.
It’s been very clear, that any mods who require CD/DVD or BIOS patching could be qualified as a circumvention device in court.
그렇기 때문에 법정에서도 이 칩은 PS2를 무력화시키는 툴이 아닌 합법적이 툴이라는 것을 증명할 수 있다.
Dev Team spent months working around the newly introduced DMCA/EUCD laws in US, Canada and Europe.
This device do not match the definition of a circumvention device under the above laws, as a circumvention device is intended to defeat security checks and anti-copy copyrighted technical measurements which are located into Bios and Controller bus of any hardware consumer equipment.
G.2 Mod DO NOT APPLY ANY PATCH TO BIOS and/or CONTROLLER in it’s Default Legal State.
As a simple test: You can try to remove Flash from others mods, upgrades, enhancements, ..
If you get a black screen, it means some patches are applied to the Bios. T
Those mods could be qualified as a circumvention device under those laws.


PROTECTED RECOVERY: 보호된 복구능력

G.2 offer an unique Legal Recovery Mode, which means if the EEprom is corrupted or even Blank you select Recovery Mode by pressing Reset a number of times at power up, put the Disk in tray and it loads the Disk and updates the Flash automatically. Here are two points -

1. Writing to EEprom is Hardware Protected - that's why you have to tap reset number of times to enable writing to EEprom and there's no way that software (like antimod game, greedy competitor, etc.) can alter or erase EEprom. In some others devices, this can be done easily at any time.
2. in Recovery Mode there is NO patches applied to cdvd control bus or bios - that's why it works with completely dead chip (blank or corrupted EEprom) Again, in some others devices you must have fully functional chip to update its EEprom, because chip is used to load update utility

There's no need for progress bar or whatever here, as the whole process with full erase, programming and verification takes under 2 seconds. Also, this is RECOVERY and not Flash Upgrade mode, though they are the same but there's 'normal' upgrade mode where you can run software with nice user interface, providing you've write enabled EEprom (means not a device in it’s Default Legal State as supplied, but already flashed with a Flash File).


FLASH UPGRADE MODE: 플래시 업그레이드

A Graphical User Interface (GUI) will help you through this mode to perform a Flash Upgrade.
On screen message such as 'Updating EEprom' and 'Successful' will let you know about the progress of the operation.
The G.2 Interface will check the existing version of Firmware (Flash File), software and display them, it will also check the Firmware Data Integrity and display if Data are corrupted or not, this can be used as an Upgrade Verification also.
You can abort, turn system off during operation, or having electric supply discontinued during operation, next time you’ll switch the system ON/OFF, you will be able to repeat the recovery process (remember, in Recovery Mode EEprom is already corrupted or Blank, so it doesn't matter if you screw it up one more time) :)
This is the main Upgrade Mode actually, but to be in that mode you need a fully functional chip (means not a device in it’s Default Legal State as supplied, but already flashed with a Flash File).


DEBUG SUPPORT: 디버그 기능 지원

As another World First G.2 mod offers a Debug Support, which is physically a Dual Way High Speed RS232 Interface.
After publication of internal Protocol, chips HW Registers and Algorithms, users will be able to write and run their own codes and add or remove any features to the Flash.
The Debug Interface is for developers and not for the end users.
It is High Speed Serial Interface that operates at 1Mbs, has internal independent receive and transmit buffers and can be used for anything, like dumping ps2 memory, sending messages about current operation mode, checking CPU registers etc. - programmer will decide what to use it for. Unlike to USB or Memcard or Firewire link this Debug Tool doesn't need any drivers or software to be loaded and operates on hardware level.
In other words developers have more control over what's going on inside of ps2.
It turns the G.2 mod into a REAL “Open Dev PlatForm”.

All those 'extras' that you can see around, can be programmed into EEprom at any time if someone needs them. At the moment the idea is to make as reliable and easy to use chip as possible. You do not need that 'mode select' because it plays almost anything in default mode - just put the disk in and close the tray. But again, if someone wants those messy features (like press this, hold that, wait for etc.) they can be added by simple flash upgrade.
